Town Fields Pavilion Update The Funding Application for the Town Fields Sports Pavilion has now been lodged with the Football Foundation. We all however have to await the outcome of this application, if successful the building of the Sports Pavilion on Town Fields will be of immense benefit to the residents of the borough. Just as importantly it will be of benefit to those individuals who live within the Town Moor, Central and Wheatley Wards.
Light the way Although part of the initial feasibility study for the Quality Bus Corridor your Lib Dem Councillors can confirm that no progress has been made on introducing traffic lights at the Racecourse Roundabout. "The high volume of traffic, the added complexity and the verity of traffic movement means that such an introduction would have been very difficult to manage". Said Cllr. Kevin Abell recently.
Hands of our back gardens Although opposed by your ward councillors, the law governing any planning application which is linked to a private garden is classified as a brownfield site. Because of this, any land or garden in question is ripe for development. Councillors are therefore hard pressed to object to such developments which results in an increase in housing density within their ward. The effect of this can be seen on Dunleary Rd, Marlborough Rd, Sandringham Rd and Victorian Crescent.
Derelict Land Residents have again been complaining about the area of derelict land to the rear of Goldsborough Road and the impact that this is having. "Although not an easy situation to resolve because the issue is linked to land ownership and not someone's garden, DMBC have once again agreed to visit the premises in question, assess the overall situation and serve notice." Said Cllr. Cliff Hampson.
